Screen Printed posters at Fairfield High School

Stereograph recently ran a multicoloured poster printing workshop for Fairfield High School during the Autumn half term. Participants from year seven to year eleven took part in designing multi-layered screen printed posters about a great memory or something really important to them. They learnt the entire process from initial design and influence, through the image preparation and finally learning how to create and print photo exposed screen prints. The course ran for three days and everyone took home at least five successful prints. These prints can go towards achieving higher grades at school and some of them will become part of the G.C.S.E course work. It was a great few days and everyone was really good at printing at the end of the workshop.

Tyntesfield Workshop

The recent workshop a Tyntesfield Manor was a free workshop which introduced and led the national trust youth panel through the process and art of screen printing. Using photographs and hand drawn imagery we created a large 6' by 3' banner about one of the house's more recent occupants, Doreen Norman. We used images of the house, decorative elements such as wallpaper and drawings made from accounts of her life to frame a large portrait in the centre of the banner. It is to be displayed in the house and is the first part of the 100 stories project at the site which aims to bring out the history of the house through youth workshops. It was a great day and a real achievement to get such a large piece done in the space of one day. Well done to every one who came along!
